Frequently asked questions
If your question is not here, email hello@bearbreaker.com and I will answer it.
What exactly am I buying?
You receive the full BearBreaker source code and configuration script. This is not a SaaS dashboard. You run it locally, connect your own Alpaca API keys, and control every parameter.
Do I need to be a programmer?
Basic familiarity with running a script helps, but you do not need to write code. The setup guide walks you through dependencies, environment variables, and the command surface.
Why Alpaca?
Alpaca offers reliable, transparent API access with zero commission and a free paper-trading environment. It is a solid brokerage for rule-based, programmatic execution.
Can I use paper trading first?
Yes. Paper trading is strongly encouraged. The system behaves the same way in paper and live modes, so you can verify the logic before risking real capital.
What if I want to change the parameters?
Every threshold, cooldown, size multiplier, and capital limit is exposed in the configuration file. You can change them. The defaults exist because they are the values I use myself.
How does the Intent Core choose constructs?
It scores opportunities through four passes: macro conditions, company fundamentals, portfolio construction, and final verification. Only constructs that pass all filters enter the active universe.
What is the TCB ledger?
TCB stands for Trading Custom Cost Basis. It is a pure capital-deployed record that tracks how much you have spent, how many units you hold, and how profitable exits raise the average cost of remaining units.
Does BearBreaker predict the market?
No. It reacts to the relationship between cost basis and live value. It does not predict direction. It enforces a mechanical response to price drift.
What happens if the market crashes?
The system follows the same priority sequence. Control directives are honoured first, full withdrawals are liquidated, and expansions only happen within size and capital limits.
Is this financial advice?
No. BearBreaker is software that automates a set of rules. You are responsible for your own capital, your own risk tolerance, and your own decisions.
